Summary: Godzilla's greatest enemy has taken on many forms over the decades. But none are perhaps as powerful or downright malevolent as the one seen here. There's no alien race pulling the strings of this particular specimen. The devil of the Monsterverse is here, and ready to take over.

History: A really really REALLY long time ago, an evil alien known as King Ghidorah came to Earth with one goal in mind. That being to destroy all opposition, and terraform the planet in his image. However, the efforts of Godzilla and the other Titans ensured that the extraterrestrial tyrant was frozen solid and buried deep within Antarctica. But millions of years later, an eco-terrorist named Emma Russel had the beast freed from his icy tomb, mistakenly believing that he would help restore order to the natural world. Instead, Ghidorah decided to finish what he started, no matter who or what gets in his way.

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: After nearly killing Godzilla on more than one occasion and very nearly taking over the entire kingdom of Titans, Ghidorah is finally vanquished when the true king of the monsters channels the power of both nuclear energy and Mothra's soul in order to become Burning Godzilla. The alien gets his wings and extra heads incinerated before Godzilla obliterates him with a stomp to the chest and the incineration of the last head. But alas, Ghidorah’s reign of terror wasn't quite over yet. The severed head from a previous fight was recovered by APEX Cybernetics, the remnants of his soul used to power Mechagodzilla as the head was reduced to a lifeless skull. Predictably, that soul took over the metal shell, and after trying to kill Godzilla again, he was put down for good by both him and Kong.

Powers/Abilities: Ghidorah's greatest power is that he simply cannot die conventionally. He can heal from almost any amount of damage, even severed heads. Any removed body part will carry a part of his soul, even after it has decomposed. He can also manipulate the weather into creating positively gargantuan storms, especially if powered by an electrical source. And of course, as with most incarnations, his heads fire Gravity Beams. His roar is also so loud it can wake up slumbering Titans and scare them into submission.

Weakness: Beings of equal or greater power. Also, he must be completely destroyed to prevent healing.

Scariness Factor: 4.5-By far, this is the evilest and most destructive Ghidorah we've seen (because the anime trilogy never happened). He's bigger than Godzilla, acts like a vile serpent repeatedly (even if his three heads aren't always completely in sync), he actively goes after individual little people, and causes untold amounts of apocalyptic damage wherever he goes. To say nothing of his very ominous theme music that follows him almost everywhere.

Trivia: -Ghidorah’s heads were given names outside of the film. They are Ichi (the middle one), Ni (the right one), and San (the left one, also known as Kevin).

-According to director Michael Dougherty, Ghidorah's conflicting head personalities were based off his three dogs, which also had a similar dynamic. One of the dogs infiltrated the set during production, and was just as loud and aggressive as the monster.
